lost & found 06/27/2009

i was supposed to be travelling to france to see my family on thursday. i was ready to go when i realised at the last minute that my passport was missing....

Picture
i'll spare you all the details including all the dramatic attempts to recover it (see my 365, day 255) but finally ended up calling dublin airport and it's there!

naughty little ID card dropped out of my bag after i showed it at customs when i go back from spain last friday.

so, i missed my flight and had to delay my holiday to july 7th and also cancel my trip to Nice. i wasn't a happy camper to be honest and pretty angry at myself.

but i soon realised that although it feels weird being here with all my stuff packed up (and a clean and tidy room for a change!) i will get to spend some more time with people here and sort out more bible college stuff.

so it's all good, as they say in yorkshireland. :D

God is good. he is sovereign even, or should i say especially, over those small and tiny things. :-)

seven malaysians (and one korean) happily invaded my kitchen 2 weeks ago. i stress on "happily" as malaysians seem to always be happy when it comes to that sort of thing...which is fine by me as i do share in their obsession with asian food. :-D

but those hours of bliss and bonding nearly turned into a mini-disaster as the little gang realised that in my house was, "NO RICE COOKER???!".

*bows head in shame*

i felt like i'd committed some kind of adultery against asian cooking and my only explanation was that i've always been against rice cookers since i prefer making rice myself in the pot. i know, i know, welcome to the world of posh nosh.
*sticks out tongue*
but anyway, everybody ended up eating my adulterous rice and i was even asked to make some more.

but i have to admit it was messy. VERY. try and make enough rice to feed 10 people (twice) and you'll soon run out of pots and get a bit cranky. after everyobdy had left i thought, "never again!". so that same night off went i on ebay and bought myself a rice cooker. it was (very) cheap, 12€. was pretty proud of myself and thought it must be second-hand so i ordered it.

it came in the post the other day and here's what i got:

Picture
yeah yeah, i know.... it was a miniature. i'm a dope, i didn't notice it on the product description. probably didn't pay attention as in the picture it looked as big as all the other (real) rice cookers. anyway, had a good laugh at myself and believe this will keep my housemates going until Christmas!

(ps: who collects miniature rice cookers anyway?!?!)

:D

i am really looking forward to this summer holiday. it feels weird in a way being "officially" done with ifes stuff and full-time student ministry but i am also looking forward to taking a break and seeing what God has in store.
must also remember to pray for august and summer team -- all very exciting!
